Contemplations

So I've been researching the Culinary Institute of America, trying to figure a way to get in, to pay for it, whatever. One of the entrance requirements is to write a 400-500 word essay on the person most influential to you with regards to pursuing a culinary career. Wow.

I don't know that I've got one single person that was influential. Rather, I have lots of small events that all lead me towards a career in food service. Working all of my spare time in the kitchen at summer camp. My grandparents, and their culinary-trip-telling...they always told vacation stories based on what they had to eat at certain locations. My best friend here at the ambulance company, and how we always cook. Lots of little things that all influenced me and made me love food and cooking that much more.

Not so sure how to write this essay. Not so sure I am writing the essay - I have to figure out a legitimate way to pay for the school first. If I can't afford it, it's pointless to apply and get accepted...

Beginnings...

I don't remember when I first started thinking of cooking, but as far back as I can remember, I've wanted to cook. I haven't always been great, but I try. A few years ago, I learned about the Culinary Institute of America, and have been yearning to attend ever since. Finances, a failing marriage, and debt beyong belief are stopping me. But who knows, maybe there is a future there...this blog will be a journal, of sorts, of my trials and tribulations.
